The longer I play the game the slower the game gets. Trying to run in Verditis with the entire map uncovered is like trying to run trough a vat of molasses with this evening being the worse. The game would pause for 3 or 4 seconds every 5 seconds when trying to move from Sir Patrick's house to the Inn. I have this same problem in the Dwarven halls. When I first started playing the game everything moved pretty fast.

My system configuration is as follows:
Full Installation
AMD 1ghz processor
512 MB ram
Windows XP
Geforce 4 Ti 4200 graphics Card
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer Sound card

Do you have anything running in the background? Anti-virus, email, wallpaper changers, instant messengers, etc....

I applied patch 1.34. Just recently got the game (was very hard to find). The main menu in the game says my version is 1.0034a

Thanakar,

I will ask it here internally what could be the cause of this, as I don't know it.

Three more questions:

- Did you change sth recently on your pc? Like installing a program, or a new piece of hardware?
- Were you always playing with the patch applied?
- When exactly did the slowdowns start?

Hopefully your problem can be fixed soon.

Divine Divinity was the last program that I installed

Yes

The slowdowns started after getting large quantities of the map uncovered. I have noticed that when moving around stuff on the screen usually doesn't move until it comes into my sight range, then it doesn't stop moving, even when out of sight. My sight range is almost the entire size of the minimap, so I see when a group of enemies suddenly scatter when the minimap reveals them, then they are in constant motion, even if they can't see me. What I think is happening is that even though I have a nice high speed graphics card, my processor doesn't like keeping track of all that moving stuff on the screen. This is very evident to the right of the Ducal Inn, with the garden that is full of butterflies that show up on the minimap and neutral. On small maps dungeon maps this isn't a problem, even with alot of enemies. I also don't have many slow ups on Riverton map, but this is probably because I've killed everything off on that map that I can <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />, something I can't do on the Verdistis map....darnit, so I have all those animals, butterflies and people moving moving moving! Another strange problem I had was with the Evil Dwarf Captain, not sure what was causing it but the game would pause continually while I was being attacked by one. Even though I have updated sound drivers for my audigy card, I'm not sure that the VIA chipset on my motherboard and Creative Labs products are a happy marriage, so some of these slowups may actually be sound related and not graphics related.

Not unless I upgrade to a new processor.

I have not run into this problem; our systems are fairly similar, though you have a better graphics card and I kept my sight range comparable to the displayed area on-screen. I have a Duron 1300 (it played fine on a Duron 900 as well), 512MB RAM, Win 98SE, GeForce2 MX, Audigy sound card, Asus A7V-E MB (VIA KT133).

If you want to check if your site range is to blame, get a crappy ring/amulet and give it a large negative sight bonus with the item editor;

See please help with my blind hero for a description and details.
