I don't think we would want to carry the weight of those decisions. Everything can go wrong, and many times not because our part in it was wrong.
All we can do is to give our best advices & support, and stay humble. In this world not always the "best dwarf" wins. Sometimes a cheater steals the crown. "Are you yet entertained?" asked the Gladiator, and each of us is just one in the crowd, we can't know what is needed to get enough "Yes" from the others, to keep making games that both are loved and sell well enough. There is still a risk involved, and that includes the how much to spend on which part to get a final investment of how much, in order to still end with some profit.
