I went to Eolus first with the axe and letter (figured he'd be the guy to go to since it was part of the 7 quest). Well, he took the axe and letter, and now the King won't acknowledge the fact that I've done the quest. The letter did come up in the Dwarf smith and Gregor dialogue boxes and the axe in Eolus's, but the King's got no clue.

So, is there someone else that I have to talk to before to trigger the King or have I blown the Dragon armor quest? (I've already tried Zandalor and Eolus at the 7 site and various Dwarves all over the town and the Hall with no luck.)

If I can't complete the Dragon set is it worth it to continue with this character? He's pretty powerful with some good eq, and I do like the idea of not wearing what everybody else does.

General stats: lvl 38, Str: 146, Ag: 73, Int: 21, Con: 111, Off: 58, Def 55, Dam: 137-176, Armor: 295, Vit: 1075, Mag: 130, L res: 40, F res: 77, P res: 77, S res: 90. And he got a very nice Nobleman's Sword (after about 75 tries): 71-100 dam, 2 charms, 4 str, 8 ag, 2 con, 80 vit, L dam (5), Frost (3), Stun (3), Life drain (3) with the sockets still empty. Over all he's got 26 sockets with 15 currently filled.

Oh, and what do the numbers in parentheses on the sword mean as opposed to when it says +1 to a skill?

The dwarven council member takes the items that you need to show the king. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" /> You can download another axe and letter, though;
Lost Items - guide and directory of inventory files

Even if you do not get the dragon armour, there are other armour potentially as good (silver/larian armour), and towards the end of the game you should be powerful enough that a lower quality armour shouldn't make any difference.

"what do the numbers in parentheses on the sword mean as opposed to when it says +1 to a skill?"

If it is +1, it adds a level to the specified skill in your own skill set.
A number in brackets means it is a separate / unique passive skill. Frost on a weapon ignores the target's resistance, where Freeze does not. Other than that, most weapon skills are similar to the corresponding ones in your own skill list. Stun(3) on a sword with the warrior's Stun skill learned would give you two chances to apply the stun effect per hit.

Dragon armour = Raze has a download fix for you, too, click here

In version 1.33/1.34 you need only the letter from the Dwarven King - in earlier versions: axe and letter to get the speech option from the King about where the armour is.

Thanks to both of you!

I did get what I take to be a good Silver armor (first try - several more were not nearly as good, though one had higher defense), so I'm going to precede with that. As I said I like the idea of dressing differently. I've got a save game just in case I change my mind.

Silver armor: 310 defense, 5 charms, +8 Int, +4 Const, +80 Vit, +20 fire res, +10 lightning res, +5 poison res, +1 sight, +1 hearing.....I just hope there are more charms to be found in the Wastelands! I still have 12 open slots with only about 5 large charms that I could use in inventory.

By the way, I had to leave a teleporter to get out of the Silver armor quest valley. I assume that's meant to be...got a save there too just in case.

Nope, just teleport yourself back, leaving one pyramid out of the egg area, then drop&drag the pyramid of the egg area into your inventory - and click on the teleport button in your skill bar. You're out and back with both pyramids again.
