Paying for the Early Access is like paying for food in the restaurant, with the option to go in the kitchen to watch your meal being prepared, taste it and give your feedback to the chef.

You can also sit at your table, shut up and wait.

why do you people insist that this is somehow tricking people into buying an unfinished game.
this isnt some crafting survival game.

Sven said if you dont wanna test the game dont buy it.

Original Sin and Original Sin 2 did the same thing and it improved these games, no wonder larian is doing it again.

The only issue you seem to have here is impulse controll. Just dont buy it.
buy it at launch.
Better yet, watch footage from the BEta so you know if you even want to buy it at launch. As a consumer, this gives you an upper hand.
But only if you actually have any impulse control.

It's not a trap. It's Larian's way of handling game release since DOS 1.

The obvious answer to the OP is, as has been pointed out by everyone, don't buy EA.

Particularly if you are concerned in any way with "value for money", buying ANY early access product is risky, as you cannot be sure what the finished product will be, so it is not possible to make a value judgement. Typically, you assess the game after release, using all available product and review information, and wait to buy the game at the point where its price matches your assessment of the game's value.

I personally consider games using EA to be functionally equivalent to crowdfunding up to the point where a game is feature-complete, and open-beta after that point.

The only potential down-side of Larian charging full price for EA is that the resulting feedback will likely come from a relatively small, committed band of players, which might reduce the breadth of appeal for the released game.
