So I flipped on the grove and started the battle for the grove on the goblin side. The battle for the gate is mostly functional if slow and messy. The goblins deal extremely poorly with pathing and there are so many units spammed that its excrutiatingly slow. At one point the goblin archers struggled so hard to find an actual viable target/path that they actually shot the oil barrels under their own suicide bombers and killed like 6 goblins.
Once I got past that point the drow leader splits off to the side and just shouts that everyone needs to die. So I start fighting some stragglers on the side. This is where the problems start. The drow leader and her group of goblins are not drawn into the fight. They just stand there out of combat right next to us. The goblins that are drawn into combat struggle horribly to pathfind, but they at least move and shoot every now and then. The real issue are the tieflings. all 8 or so of them, except for 1 can't figure out what to do. They literally did nothing to the point that eventually the ai just timed out and passed the turn. This of course made the combat extremely easy, but HORRIBLY slow.
The real kicker however is that after this the drow leader has left and is nowhere to be found. She has essentially despawned. The spiders are also completely gone. The army that is still there are just idling around the place. And the massive final grove fight against all the druids is populated by a grand total of 3 goblin archers, completely soft locking my save state with the last autosave being an hour back. The lack of saving is my problem of course, but this whole scenario breaks your combat system/ai. And is non-functional to say the least
