I played 8 hours until now and would like to share my opinion.

Positives:
- The Sound Editing is amazing, BG3 probably will win some awards in future.
- I really liked the spells; adaptation, visual effect and balance in general.
- Larian really succed in make a game quite different of DoS 2. Probably it was the fear of most people, but this game is unique. A trully DnD based experience.
- The party internal interaction is amazing, in 8 hours i didn't see repeated dialogues and i never saw this in a videogame before.
- I didn't realize any major bug that could compromise the experience in general, and its surprising for an EA game.
- Good combat rhythm, especially in multiplayer.
- The game is really beautiful in all aspects; menus, interfaces, ambience, etc.

Negatives:
- In MY opinion "dumb" enemies, like spiders, etc, shouldn't hit fallen characters, they should just run to the next nearest opponent. It seems to me the only unfair part of the combat, they EVER will hit the fallen one, but I understand that "it depends on the dungeon master".
- It should be clearer when some character spots something, it seems that you need to search around and, with so many things in cenario sometimes I just can't find it, and it doesn't show pressing "alt". But it can also be due to my graphics, which are very low.
- The Jump as bonus action in combat is a little bit weird cos you have the sensation that you HAVE to jump every turn to reach enemies, and to be honest i never saw that in DnD. I know the rules, but people doesn't do, its strange and unreal.
- Scrolls in general doesn't make any sense to me, looks like a "Larian's vicious". Maybe could have scrolls, but less amount.
- Long Rests should consume food and/or water, to make its use lesser and give the player a sensation of "lost resources".

So, its that. For me the game is amazing and was a good surprise for an EA. Comment below your points guys, and tell me what you agree and desagree. Sorry my english, im from Brazil. Hugs grin

How is it a "TRULLY" DnD based experiences when the ruleset has been watered down to accommodate for trademarks of larian such as the surfaces?

If you think this game is amazing you are playing it with your eyes closed.. its one of the worst RPG's I've ever played and thats ignoring all the early access bugs, it is multiple huge steps backwards from divinity 2 its probably even worse than divinity one seeing as how hollow and broken the actual mechanics are.

This is fairly obviously not the case: I haven't deleted anything and there's plenty of less-than-favourable feedback. Pretty much the only stuff that gets deleted is spam.

Was also surprised that some enemies attacked my downed characters. Made the combat a bit more "emotional". :P

Yeah, traps should really get some highlighted visuals. I am not always right on top of the character with my character.

Jumping is a bit odd imo, you get more distance when using it. Is this really the same case in normal 5e dnd? Not that I don't appreciate a few extra centimeters in combat wink

I actual like the implementation of scrolls so far. Makes it less painfull to deal with the low amount of spellpoints and prepared spells. But it is too early to really tell how it all affects the balance and flow.
I don't like camping all the time though, and the backtracking involved in it when you are in a dungeon. Maybe there needs to be a dungeon camp scene, so you don't have to run all the way back?

I also agree with that.
I think we need more camp environnment or at least something like real "travel cinematics" (you leaving the place you're in, you incomming to the camp => then you leaving the camp and then entering back the place you were) because it breaks everything everytime you click long rest...

From what I've read in this forum this morning it has only been valid criticism and constructive posts, be it negative ones.

Early Access is the perfect moment for criticism and negative feedback. It helps building a better game. I'd rather be negative in all my posts and see the game get in a state as close as a D&D based game could be, than to just praise it for all its good aspects (and it has some good aspects of course) and sit there telling the devs nothing but "game is perfect".

Some things didn't work in DOS:2 and they use the roughly same engine so those mistakes will be carried over whether the game has the same flavor or not. Problems with surfaces, problems with your characters linked and trying to avoid those damaging surfaces when regrouping, taking huge detours and ending up walking straight into new foes by doing so. Those things need to be adressed and worked on before the game releases.
Bonus actions, action economy, use of spell scrolls, overuse of surfaces even on cantrips, those are things that aren't feeling right for now, and there is quite a lot of feedback and suggestions on how to adress those issues.

I just hope whenever someone writes something negative, people will actually go beyond the "another hater just crying because it's turn based" or whatever. Reddit might be packed with those, but I think Larian forums stand up pretty untouched by trolling.

How you criticise matters too. I’ve seen a couple of people ruin otherwise valid points by throwing in pointless insults at Larian.

As long as people are respectful and ideally give constructive feedback with suggestions, there should be no problem with other people on the forum and their feedback stands a much better chance of being taken seriously.

That is a perfectly valid point and I wasn't even thinking about people just bashing Larian freely. Those folks shouldn't even be there talking about Early Access.

I'm not at all sold on BG3 as it stands now, I think this game isn't a good adaptation in its current state for the reasons stated in the various posts I've written, yet I respect the devs behind it because I know that they're putting as hard of a work and passion as they can into it. Working on such a legendary title comes with huge pressure and responsibility.
I'm sure by the time the game releases fully it will be greatly improved, which is the point of having a Early State. But as I've said, white knights telling right off the bat that the game is a perfect adaptation of D&D are as off as people bashing Larian for it being like DOS:2. They're not helping improving the thing. I don't like extremes on either end of the spectrum.

Anyway, props to the devs for the work accomplished, but there's still quite a lot to do to nail the D&D feel.

Quite. Speaking only for myself, perceived attitude makes a big difference and it takes a lot more willpower to consider a point of view made contemptuously than one made courteously: it's just human nature. On any medium, if you see the same person or the same phrases cropping up in a derogatory context your eyes just end up glassing over.

generally inclined to agree, so far with my couple of starts the rules feel close in some ways but off and not in a good way in others. I intend to try and give a proper and thorough feedback post as well.

I think it's off to a good start, and visually is very nice. But there are a lot of things that IMO should be brought closer to pnp, with the game being turn based there are far fewer pnp rules that should need ot be changed. I understand the difficulty of reactions because they'll be a bit jarring with the current flow of gameplay, but there are solutions.

World building is fantastic.
Story feels really FRESH.
Characters feel more believable that most RPGS.
Dialogues feel very well made.
You choices do matter.
5e implementations work well. Good job Larian.

-
Classes lack identity. For example - all classes can use scrolls.
Surfaces rule, they are the true pantheon of this universe. All hail the surface lords.
UI too close to DOS2.
Lack of backround for your own character (this will probably be adressed).
Enemies shooting through doors, but you can't (just a bug, will be fixed).
Unable to choose which character handles interactions with NPCs. Not that great when many interactions are forced upon you.
