I am also playing on 3440*1440 - 2.38:1 (43:18) resolution.
I agree with your second point, i also hardly noticed the failed check roll because it was .. too far away.
- I suggest it should pop up from from center and then move to upper left and fade out.
Seeing more d20 is always nice even if its failure.
