The engine is the same as the original, nothing new there. New spells, five prestige classes...pretty cool, kinda hard to get them. The story is ok so far nothing magical at this point. Its set in the north....way north, even of neverwinter. You can transfer old chars...any other ?s

How much Us Dollars was it . Just to take time a side and ask yourself what am I really buying. Im buying this piece of crap from bioware . If is over 30 forget it, they didn't even improve on their systems. They just add a couple pieces of junk nothing good and expect a sale. What a rip-off totaly unfare to us common folk. i would just like to say there is plenty of RPGs coming out this year and let me tell you, the only reason I bought the first NWN is because of the 3ED rules. Now things haven't changed. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUILD A BETTER COMPUTER . What a waste of a game . sorry had to get that out of my system *cough* *cough* sucks *cough* *cough*

NeroJB, how many game hours do you think you will get, for only $25 I'll buy it. Where did you get it, store or on-line? Ofcourse you can transfer old characters, I bought a new pc and did not save a save game from NWN.

For $25 or $30 we could get Riftrunner. Or I could get Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic which is not a stinking expansion pack that reeks of "Buy me! I make more money for the developer! I am full of bugs, and I am a rip off! But buy me!!" I played NWN for several months in multiplayer mode before I quit. I decided that it wasn't worth the hassle and headache to play a freaking game. Having to patch the damn thing every 3-6 weeks just to be able to play in multiplayer mode is really a pain in the major blah, not to mention several patches had so many bugs that they broke the code more than fixed it. I honestly liked NWN for a while. But I won't be buying either of the expansion packs, which will feature only about 20 hours of gaming time each for the official campaign. Feh! I can play AoW and DD for 8 hours straight for a week. 2 and all the way.

Hm, personally I'd wait until the second expansion pack is released or they have released some more info about it. Because I like to mod - the tilesets look pretty damn sweet - so I guess I'll be buying SoU. Not sure. First getting some money
But Lionheart waits... Hmm.. It will be difficult to choose!

"Undrentide" is in the german version translated into "Underzit". Don't ask me why.
A friend of mine, who has a far longer and better knowledge in the RPG field than me says that this translation is very old, and was never chanced from one P&P sourcebook.

For me, NWN was a failure, even though 3E DnD rules on their own have flaws, NWN just made the mess even bigger. Since I rarely play online as well, I lack even more of the fun that one could possibly have. The conversation system and menu system are just utterly boring to me and overall the rules system used in NWN (which really isn't 3e DnD anymore) is kinda crappy imho.
Of course, I'm glad for people like this game, but it's just not my cup of tea.

C'mon guys give Neverwinter Nights a GOOD try! The power of that game lies in multiplayer, the 3th edition rules AND making mods (the aurora toolset)
Why do you think they'll be releasing a few add-ons? Not for singleplayer... To keep the modders at work! New tilesets, enhanced toolset, great new items and spells, classes, ...
I agree, Baldur's Gate II or "look" very nice and play much better in Single player. But it's fun too with NWN to play together with some friends defeating a dragon or two..

The above mentioned friend of mine (we meet once in a month at our local Star Wars Dinner in Cologne ) and I have alwys had heavy discussions about NWN. He likes the game, I don't without having played it yet.
My POV is heavily influenced by the fact that I have several srious reports that the game was only *halfway* translated into German - the Rest is still English.
I don't want to give my miney to a company which is not able to properly translate games.
I still consider my point of view as prejudice, but can't help.
Recently I wanted to try out the Demo, but at one point the demo constantly crashed.

C'mon guys give Neverwinter Nights a GOOD try! The power of that game lies in multiplayer, the 3th edition rules AND making mods (the aurora toolset) Ironically, many people find the implementation of 3e rules very poor. And its weaknesses are many: radial menu that many find annoying, the poor excuse of an official campaign, repetitive graphics born out of using tilesets, limited game engine, lack of cloaks/robes, subpar graphics that might have looked great two years ago... Well, I won't go on. Besides, if I wanted to play something multiplayer, there are better games for that purpose. Why do you think they'll be releasing a few add-ons? Not for singleplayer... To keep the modders at work! New tilesets, enhanced toolset, great new items and spells, classes, ...
Beg to differ. Some of the best modules I've played -- and they are quite acclaimed in NWN communities -- are geared toward single player. (The Art of Thanaturge, Elegia Eternum, Witch's Wake, to name but a few.) By the way, I'm not getting the expansion pack unless I can find a pirated copy. I'm not going to hand Bioware another cent, and really, the new contents -- IMO -- don't sound that lucrative. Prestige classes I can live without; new tilesets are so-so, since there're tons of other better-looking user-made ones out there; henchman inventory management has already been done in a custom-made hakpack; new spells I could live without; new feats don't excite me all that much. That leaves what? A new official campaign? And you know how much I loved the first one.
