Hey, the lack of items is caused by the modders (ok, in singleplayer it's BioWare his fault, but mostly if you think there aren't enough items - create them! that's where the aurora engine shines... cool toolset)
Indeed, the tilesets get boring after a while, and that's why you can download some tilesets with a .HAK file for free and that's also why they release additional expension packs.
Stupid menu? C'mon man. Every review says NWN has a very easy-to-use menu with can be activated very fast. If you need more time, yust pause the game like in BGII. Of course you can't always do so multiplayer.
Hey, multiplayer in this game rally rocks. Did you ever play your own module with some friends? They give you some advice, you'll be editing it again and replay it... Putting some new quests in it, solving together, fighting together... Multiplayer is THE aspect of the game you are NOT able to deny this one!
But you are right about the add-on - the only reason I will buy it is because of the new tilesets and spells and stuff (+increased usage of the toolset). Because I like to mod. I don't see any reason why to buy. Single player? Nah, enough free modules wich are worth it. Prestige classes? I don't think they are very handy, I can live without too. Besides, they only added four or five of them. That sucks. I wish you could make more classes with the toolset.
Henchman pathfinding still sucks but BioWare promises to "fix" that one in the second add-on.
Well, anyway, I'll be waiting until the second one - i'm excited what will be revealed in the coming months <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Hope I didn't bore you too much with my long text <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
Ironically, many people find the implementation of 3e rules very poor. And its weaknesses are many: radial menu that many find annoying, the poor excuse of an official campaign, repetitive graphics born out of using tilesets, limited game engine, lack of cloaks/robes, subpar graphics that might have looked great two years ago... Well, I won't go on.
Besides, if I wanted to play something multiplayer, there are better games for that purpose.
Beg to differ. Some of the best modules I've played -- and they are quite acclaimed in NWN communities -- are geared toward single player. (The Art of Thanaturge, Elegia Eternum, Witch's Wake, to name but a few.) By the way, I'm not getting the expansion pack unless I can find a pirated copy. I'm not going to hand Bioware another cent, and really, the new contents -- IMO -- don't sound that lucrative. Prestige classes I can live without; new tilesets are so-so, since there're tons of other better-looking user-made ones out there; henchman inventory management has already been done in a custom-made hakpack; new spells I could live without; new feats don't excite me all that much. That leaves what? A new official campaign? And you know how much I loved the first one.
