My DM mentioned this in our session last night, the reason Gnomes arent playable is because in 5e Gnomes can't be turned into mindflayers, so they wouldnt bother trying to kidnap one etc.

maybe there will be gnome NPC's later, I hvanet played much cause of bugs so no spoilers pelase - I really like it so far
