Rolling a 1 on a skill check auto fails. Natural 1s do not apply to skill checks in D&D please remove from the game.
Literally my first roll was a Investigation check on the bowl of soup it required a 5 to pass. I had +5 to that skill so it should be impossible for me to fail.
