Now, when the melee enemies surround an archer or even mage, they can simply jump out without having any damage. Which makes the attacks of opportunity almost useless.
Could you fix that.

The real problem is that Jump is a bonus action and much too versatile due to that. In the Pen & Paper variant Disengage (which is what allows you to avoid attacks of opportunity) is an Action, and simply means that your movement for the round doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity. If I had to come up with a suggestion it would be to have both a Jump and a Disengage action, where jump could stay a Bonus Action but provoke attack of opportunity and Disengage would function as in the pen & paper game (is an Action, makes movement not provoke attack of opportunity).

Jumping absolutely needs to incur attacks of opportunity. It's frankly ridiculous that they deliberately made it not. If anything, let the rogue keep the non-AoO jump, everone else gets bonked in the head if they try something as stupid as leaping away from someone swinging an axe at your back.

Yeah I agree, it's too easy to avoid AOO

My guess is, the intention for the jump is to represent one of your strange mind powers... but I agree. There is a reason only rogues are able to disengage as a bonus action in 5e.

Agreed. You can also stealth jump past enemies, lol.

I had an encounter where two of my companions were stealthed and two others were engaging and I couldn't easily maneuver the stealthed companions out of enemy sight. I tried having them jump past the line of sight for the hell of it and, to my surprise, none of the enemies noticed even though I pretty much jumped in front of their faces.

Definitely a mechanic that can be easily exploited.

This has to be addressed asap I agree. Only rogues should be able to do it.

It is OP. The point of disengaging is that it costs you your action in 5e. It gives the player the dilemma to attack or do something else that may be useful, or get out of danger for the opportunity to get the upper hand next round. This completely takes that dilemma away. Making it so basically everyone has this rogue bonus action ability is just another detriment for how rogues are being treated in this game.

Pen & Paper Rogue gets Cunning Action on 2nd level which means they can Dash, Disengage or Hide as a Bonus Action. They should probably get that in the game too, instead of letting everyone do that.
I suspect that implementing an "action economy" that mirrors the D&D 5th edition ruleset more closely would be a big benefit to the game but I don't know, maybe they already tried that and there's a reason everybody gets to have Rogue abilities. On the other hand, there are some very basic misconceptions in this game about the nature of D&D 5th edition mechanics that makes me worry they just haven't read (or understood) the ruleset they're basing the game on...

...or like D:SO, which is the actual issue here.

Agree... You shouldn't be able to jump if you're surrounded and it should reduce your (entire) movement bar when you do it.

(And maybe we should be able to move a little bit more during combats)

Or you know, just let Jump provoke attack of opportunity and see if you feel like jumping anywhere when surrounded wink

No, because jump isn't only a problem for AOO.

It's also used everytime by everyone during combat just to move a little bit more. Characters are frogs ATM if you're using the game mecanics.

I agree, getting out from enemy AoO is far too trivial. This issue has been a concern since the very first gameplay demo.

Jumping is a good mechanic but it could be more punishing.

Like, getting to higher ground will give you advantage so you jump there. But yeah let's cut off on that movement then and also screw you if you're threatened [enemy close by]

The community seems to largely agree on this issue. Jump/Disengage needs to be changed to promote both balance and player choice. Do you attack, or use your action to disengage? Doing both is just too much and diminishes the versatility that should be exclusive to the Rogue class. Not to mention enemies could just jump away from you, which is silly. I think the following changes need to happen:

1. Separate Jump and Disengage.
2. Keep Jump a bonus action that can invoke Attacks of Opportunity if you are too close to the enemy.
3. Make Disengage an action.

Those simple changes would add a layer to combat strategy that just isn't there at the moment.

+1

i would also like to see shove become an action again, with some way to cycle between shove to prone or shove away some feets. This also trivialise avoiding AoO (against single target at least): enemies cant reach you if you pushed them 15ft away.
Make Shield Master great again
