I was pretty impressed by the depth of character creation for an Early Access title.

That said, the only options presented for character creation are only human-esque races. I would absolutely love to see a dip into the non human races in D&D, especially with the large expansion of canon player races within 5e. As an avid RPG player, I am an outlier, but the human races (including elves, dwarfs, gnomes, halfling, and other spirit glue and body paint alterations) are never my go-to options when creating a character. I don't feel like they really represent "me" in the table top setting, fantasy game or any other type of TTRPG.

I play the monster characters in the party. The kobold, the dragonborn, the tabaxi, the kinku (which, granted, kinku would be quite difficult to code the dialogues but interesting if done well), or in the Ravnica crossover, the centaur, the minotaur, the loxodon. I would absolutely be enthralled if the Baldur's Gate 3 added one of the non-human monster races as a player option. Or even just adopted lycanthropy as a substantial player option or something that can happen to a player character along their journey (that would be the absolute first thing I would seek out, sorry mind flayers). I always feel more comfortable playing a monster. Human-esque characters are just kind of an off-hand curiosity and I lose interest pretty quickly.

It will never happen, but I couldn't give money hard enough in one of these video game RPGs to be able to play as a kobold with with full V/O, story, and character customization options.

If an SDK is launched, one of the first things I'm going to do is to try to make a gnoll as a playable character with a mesh swap.
