Like I mentioned, you would still of course be able to put spells on your hotbar (even all of them if that's your preference). This suggestion would just centralize your available spells in an organized interface. I did try casting spells from the interface Larian created accessible with the button below the map (hotkey K by default) in combat, but it doesn't work.
