I haven't played a druid myself yet but having a druid companion showed a very clear difference in mechanic versus 5e rules in that if a druid in their wildshape reaches 0 HP they turn back into their human form.

This really took me aback when I learned the mechanics for wildshape didn't follow 5e and that the it just outright killed the druid companion I had with me.

Wait, a druid in whildshape does not revert to human form if their wildshape HP pool is depleted, they just die?

With NPC companions, yes. I haven't checked player character mechanics but I would expect to see the same apply to our NPC companions.

The NPC companion just outright died and the only way for me to have got them back was reloading a save or a scroll of revivify.

This was a story related NPC as well as they weren't some unimportant person I dragged from the tavern.

I noticed this too, and I do hope they correct it for the druid class when it comes.

That said, the 3 lifebars of a moon druid would seem to be intrinsically OP in this game, especially given the low amount of encounters per rest. The rest system is really important to modify and get right to be honest, as its already feeling to me like you can just dump all your cool stuff in combat and then full rest for no penalty, which will tilt balance pretty sharply.
