I know that within 5e rules sneak attack is supposed to be for finesse weapons only, but I learned that the Rogue class currently in Alpha allows you to sneak attack with any proficient weapon. If you decide to play as a Githyanki you gain Greatsword Proficiency allowing you to sneak attack with a greatsword. Below is a gif I prepped showing my efforts.

I'm sure that many people hope that BG3 follows 5e rules closely, but I do enjoy being able to sneak attack with a variety of weapons.
