Anyone else think this should show either the AC or the Save roll instead?
To be honest, it shouldn't show anything... that's not Fallout or X-Com. Knowing your partie's strengths and finding out your enemie's weaknesses is part of the game.
thats not really true, as when you roll a dice and you get 12 the dm says hit or miss so you always kinda of know?
True, but you seldom know what the AC is right away, if ever. Unless you have a REALLY inexperienced DM. Usually someone throws an attack, it hits or misses, player takes a mental note. After a round or two, players can usually guess the AC. But they never know when combat starts, unless they have memorized the monster manual inside and out lol
