Larian has said many times more companions will be added, even in the EA. They gave us these "unlikeable" characters because they want to encourage us to try play evil characters, as people generally play good characters in the full game, and they want people to see that being evil can be rewarding too. Thus several of the companions are sort of evil too, to match you. They will add "good" companions later on in the EA.
