Ok at the moment we have a follow the leader style system where in we are only ever in direct control of a single character and the others just follow us like lost (and stupid) sheep.
We are forced to go through de coupling and reattaching the party together when we want to move characters separately which is honestly a pain in the ass. Forgetting to decouple a character you have stealthing a head to scout will often lead to a reload as coming out of stealth will cause the 3 little lost sheep you left behind to immediately beeline right for you regardless of hazards.
The character you have leading from the front is often a tad too far forward due to the delay inherent to the other party members in following you meaning the leading character is often exposed and vulnerable and just enough out of position relative to the other party members to be troublesome.

Personally I would like to see a more RTS style of control as used in most other RPGs so we are selecting the party member we want moving.
It gives better control overall makes it much faster and easier to move the party around as individuals. It removes the worry of your party members running to you like they are attached by super magnets just because you forgot to de couple them from the party when you stealthed ahead.
It also allows for the possibility of party formations although that isn't 100% needed it would be nice to see.

I dunno if the current system is mainly due to console ease of use but or other reasons but it just feels clunky to use.
