Hey all,

There's a bug in multiplayer where if one of the PC's listens in on a conversation that another PC is having with an NPC, then a black dialogue box will float above their head and will remain even after the conversation has finished. The black speech bubbles will follow the PC around and it stops the host from saving the game. It's caused a few issues, with us mainly having to replay a section a few times, and the only way we seem to be able to remove it is to have the affected PC's talk to someone. Sometimes it removes it. Sometimes it doesn't. The affected players can't see the icon above their PC's head, but the other players can.

My friend and I have encountered this bug repeatedly. The 'reloadand try something different to no avail' is REAL. We cannot advance the story at this point since there is no way to save the game at the end of an evening's play. We have gone back to before the bug several times but it keeps recurring - even if neither of us listen in. The spot we are at is a certain zhent 1/2ling trader... which is as much as i can say without spoiling.

Good to know this issue isn't unheard of! We've had a dramatic last little bit, but it was badly undercut because this bug set us back a couple of hours of gameplay. Had to replay through the whole thing. And then the host crashed before we got a chance to save (we were dropped into the middle of combat and so talking to get rid of the black speech bubble wasn't an option) and we have to play through the last big fight, reselecting the dialogue options we choose.

Yep, we were getting that bug non stop. a) dialogue icon remains over one of the players and b) it can block saving.

To bypass the issue, we went to camp and saved there. Using fast travel probably also bypasses the issue.

EDIT : see below for an easier quick-fix to this bug.

Found an easier quick-fix to this bug : speak to a companion, leave dialogue. If stops the issue, allowing you to save.

Me and my friends had the same issue, couldn't save because someone was in a dialogue / listened to someone while they were in a dialogue. We managed to fix it by finding out who was listening in to the conversation (the one who was stuck in it) and killing them. That fixed it for us. MAKE SURE you have revival scrolls in case that fixes your save.

In my experience, killing each other hasn't worked 100% of the time. Everyone sees the people stuck in conversation differently and in some cases it's just persisted.

Before killing the player character (!), try what worked for me :
a) the "stuck" character talks to a companion and leaves that dialogue ;
b) Go to camp (though Fast Travel might also work).
