DISCLAIMER: This will inevitably turn into a "Windows 7 vs. Windows 10" debate. I don't care about any of that, I just really want to know the answer.

The Baldur's Gate 3 Steam page says:

Quote
Minimum:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
Processor: Intel i5-4690 / AMD FX 4350
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 780 / AMD Radeon R9 280X
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 150 GB available space
Additional Notes: Default API is Vulkan 1.1. Directx11 API also provided. The minimum requirements might decrease over the course of Early Access, as performance improves.

But the Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access FAQ on this forum says:

Quote
MINIMUM:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel i5-4690 / AMD FX 4350
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 780 / AMD Radeon R9 280X
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 150 GB available space
Additional Notes: Default API is Vulkan 1.1. Directx11 API also provided. The minimum requirements might decrease over the course of Early Access, as performance improves.

So... which is it? Is Windows 10 the minimum requirement or Windows 7?

A couple weeks ago not officially but they've posted somewhere they have been testing it (or were about to do so). It seems the testing was complete and they have updated the Steam page (whilst not yet having updated the FAQ)

Maybe someone chimes in who is actually running it in Windows 7. But if it now says so on the Steam page, I'd go with that.

I run it on win7 64Bit with steam, some performance issues
- stuttering every now and then -> the whole PC locks down all programs but ms-programs for about 2 seconds - seems to be always loading new props while moving araound (looking YT-videos or browsing at the same time on second monitor)
else all clear to go atm

It works on Windows 7 if you otherwise meet the specs. Many people were having a time even getting it to launch at all, though. But there is a work-around. Run it from the executable directly (bg3_dx11.exe) and as soon as you double-click it, hold down the left Shift key until you see the Larian logo appear.

Only need to launch while holding shift key, to work under windows 7.

Otherwise, saving for occasional hang-out (as mentioned in previous post) it works perfectly until now. wink

I am playing on a Win7 box with a below spec video card (GTX 1050 TI) with the video settings turned down to medium or low and it works, although there is a little bit of stuttering and stalling.
