That guide goes on to detail a number of ethnic origins which "are significant minorities in regions or nations that border the North", many of which have dark skin.

So everything else aside, this complaint isn't even consistent with the source material.


Agreed, while they aren't the majority of the population on the Swordcoast the idea that they are vanishingly rare is absurd. One of the things that made the Swordcoast what it is, is that it attracted folks of all types from all over Faerun, because it was a place where anyone could go without a central goverment to block immigration.
