And that makes far more sense than nearly every human on the Sword Coast being from some distant land. A Player Character has a backstory, there can be a good reason for them being there. Maybe their family had to escape, maybe their parents were adventurers. Any backstory works.

It stops working when applied at scale. But, really, there are only a few humans, so I fully admit it's too early to tell how badly they are gonna distort what The Sword Coast actually looks like.

Next thing you know they will introduce a comic-book villain who wants to build a wall, evict refugees, and put kids in cages like some ham-fisted political fanfiction. Oh wait...

So are you just ignoring everyone who's told you the tieflings make sense? And that there are two black humans in the entire act? Compared to about 12 white humans.
