When the game begins, you are a teenager living in Baldur’s Gate. Your background choice will affect which part of the city you live in. Your first mission is to become an apprentice. So, you don’t choose your class, instead you will have to join a guild or find a master, who will teach you.

After you have become an apprentice, time moves forward a few years. Now, you are a young adult and a novice. You do a few missions for your guild or master, interact with some of the people in Baldur’s Gate, and then the Mindflayers kidnap you, and infect you with the mindflayer parasite. You escape and rescue another prisoner from the ship, who will become you first companion. The ship crashes, and you and your companion are the only survivors. You start looking for a healer who can remove the parasites, and you will meet other companions on the way.

When you find the healer, you find out that he is a captive of a surviving mindflayer. You defeat the mindflayer, and the healer will remove the parasite, but it has already altered your brain, so now you can use mindflayer powers. You also find out that a group of mindflayers have a base near Baldur’s Gate, and you decide to destroy it. On the way to the mindflayer base, you do more side missions and meet new companions.

When you have defeated the mindflayers, you will find out that they were only a part of bigger evil organization, which goal is to invade or destroy Baldur’s Gate.

Now, you have two choices:

1.You can find powerful allies, who will help you to save your home.
2.You can join the evil organization and help it to destroy Baldur’s Gate, the city you hate.

So, when you play Baldur’s Gate 3, you can experience being a normal person growing up in Baldur’s Gate, and then becoming one of the greatest heroes in Faerun or one of the greatest villains in Faerun.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

Your background and class dont really need to be dragged out more then just the option tbh. As for the rest of the story that you have planned, how do you know thats not Larian's idea all along?
