As I said, sadly, when I interact with the book in any way the option to give it to him as "an artifact that he needs" disappears from his dialog. Gale has a certain animation when he
consumes the artifacts,
but it's not the case with this book.

If you Examine the book (via right clicking) then you'll find it is Vulnerable to a specific damage type.
