1) Quest Reward (follow up to your post); [Spoilers below]
I am in the same situation. He said meet me the next morning so I went to camp to sleep and he stays down inside the grove next to the mean Druid who was bumped down in ranks to start over once Halsin took over the camp again. I've rested many days since, explored my entire camp and Halsin seems to not go any further now. Might have to redo this whole thing once the full game comes out. If I find any thing that resets it or fixes it without reloading to a very early point in game or before I met with Halsin in the grove after being saved.... I'll let ya know.
