Any reason why cleric/wizard spells are identical in every level? I.E. added light healing spell to lever one and it automatically was memorized in Level 2. tried to take it off Level 2 and then it was taken off level 1 by itself. Basically all I can do it seems is memorize the same spell every level. While I have been away from AD& D for several year that makes no sense. Hopefully its just me, either way that's a waste...

Noticed the same. Not sure but must be a bug.

I... am not sure what you're asking. You don't memorise spells of a particular level, you have a set number of spells that you can prepare. The up-leveled ones are the hotkeys to cast the spells at a higher level, but you always can only prepare your level plus your casting mod spells (so at level 1 you have 4 spells prepared with 16 in your casting mod, 5 at level 2, etc) and upcasting doesn't require a separate preparation, it just casts the same spell with a higher slot

i realize you don't memorize spells as a cleric. what i was trying to say is that once you have to use the same spell in the next level up and so on...why can i not use different spells in second level than the ones in first level? makes absolutely no sense. Wizards have the same issue. Maybe its the "new AD&D" rules but you used to be able to mix up your spells not the same ones, every level, unless you wanted to do that.

A spell can also be cast at any spell slot higher than itself. If you're a level 3 wizard who prepared Burning Hands, you can cast it as a 1st-level spell as it is or as a 2nd-level spell for more damage. You do not need to prepare Burning Hands (1st) and Burning Hands (2nd) separately.

OK, I'm an idiot. Don't ask how I realized I am that stupid sometimes but I figured out what my issue was and it was not the game's problem. HAHAHA
