I thought the exchange was insincere and the song itself overwrought (as you noted), I liked the variety the encounter offers overall and wouldn't complain about it under any other circumstances. . .But the song itself had all the emotional depth of a saucer and the dialogue didn't really feel like one a real person would engage in who was that aggrieved. Everyone handles loss differently, but people don't usually share deeply personal feelings casually with strangers let alone petition them for assistance in honoring the death of someone that person never even knew. Everything about that felt tone deaf to me
