I'm assuming you are actually using the sneak attack button you get (why that's a helpful addition is beyond me. The game should be smart enough to just add it or not depending on the context imho). In which case I would say its not always clear to me when it works versus not. The combat log is, let's say, rudimentary at best for a DnD game. But that said, I don't think I've had this problem.
