So my husband and I picked up BG3 because we've been wanting a good co-op game to play together and have fond memories of the classic games. I also really enjoyed the Divinity games (although I never played them multiplayer), which was another plus when we were pondering it.

And overall, the game is a lot of fun. I am enjoying it more than I enjoyed Divinity.

Except. The multiplayer. The cutscenes and NPC interactions are SUPREMELY BORING in multiplayer. We go from enjoying playing a game together to one of us playing and the other watching. Why can't we both interact in the conversations? Why is it limited to one person? We each feel like we're missing half the game. It feels like there really ought to be a way for everyone playing to interact, I mean, if I were hanging out with my buddies and we all started talking to a random guy, then naturally when the conversation moved from one topic to the next, the person interacting with the random guy who had the most interest in or knowledge of the subject at hand would start talking.

We began the game talking to every NPC. Then we started saving before every conversation so that if my husband the wizard starts talking and we discover we're talking to a nature character, we can reload so that I as the ranger can initiate (or vice versa). But now we're so bored with the 'only one person gets to talk' that we're just attacking everyone because we're actually playing together when we're fighting.

It's probably too late in the dev cycle to change this now. But it'd really be nice if multiplayer allowed you to actually play with everyone all of the time instead of just when you're murder hoboing. smirk
