Oh man I find it hilarious that I've seen this same statement 17 times by now. I feel bad because it didn't take me long to realise the checks are lowered based on modifiers. Next time use your mouse to scroll over the dice icons and see the checks and mod adjustments before and after roll.
Something to add is a tutorial option for this that forces you to read it and say it back in great detail. In fact all tutorials should be like that lol.
Also maybe and option for people who would rather see a shield icon next to the roll with the modifier adding to the roll with the original check in place so you can count it out. Ya know keeping the computer from cheating on dice rolls. Gotta keep an eye out for those bastards.
