Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Opening iron flask in camp. Leads to corrupt save.

I wrote about an experience I had in the general forum. Turns out what I did corrupts your save file and causes a crash as soon as you load anything after doing this.

The chest you can get just north of the blighted village (The one with the iron flask in part of a quest). If I take the chest, open it in my camp and then proceed to open the flask. The fight with the spectator begins. The spectator kills scratch the dog, then I kill it. If I save at any point after this event, when I load it crashes the game.

I'm unsure whether it is to do with the dead spectator or dog in camp. Or the chest. But I managed to load the game before this point fine. I did the same things again, and the saves break down after this event

Thinking about it, i might have that problem as well. But i only opened the chest at my camp, not the flask itself. I initially thought it was the bog corrupting my saves but this makes sense as well.

Hmm, I wonder if the chest is the bugged item then. I'll try opening the chest outside the camp to see if it makes a difference

Okay, can confirm. I opened the chest outside of camp, did everything else the exact same (opened flask, dog died, killed the spectator all IN camp) and saves are okay. So it must be something to do with opening the chest in camp OR completing the "Find the missing shipment" quest in camp. Hope this helps anyone!

My game was crashing every time I tried to do a long rest.
I had a different chest (the one from the burning village) that I'd sent back to camp to have Astarion open (he wasn't with me to unlock the chest).
But after he opened the chest in camp, all my saves were bugged.

Thought I'd lost ~60 hours of game play. Only lost about 3.
