I am having the exact same expereince. I can complete the tutorial level, but after activating the console on the helm, not only does the entire game crash --- my whole computer shuts down. And when I try to load any save game file (from my PC and opeining on my mac) the game crashes.
Sounds like no one has found any fix or workaround for this?
