In between 1-2M according to Steamspy estimations (where they have their numbers from). May not be entirelly accurate, of course, but they've already posted that the sales had been "insane".
This is the biggest more "traditional" CRPG project with the biggest team behind it in ages, perhaps ever. The best that could happen is that it sends a strong signal that there is a significant market worth investing into here next to the more action oriented and light on mechanics games such as Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Fallout et all.
That said, Larian are pretty "special" in here, as DOS2 in particular had far outsold any other isometric CRPG on the market. In parts the reason may be their less traditional approach to doing things; environmental interactions, full-3D and Co-Op included. WOTC probably too figured that Larian+Baldur's Gate may equal a bit of cash.
