Oh come on! You're just taking it to the extreme to put down the idea (unless I have misunderstood you, in which case apologies). No one said this should be an option in every single case. Just something that could be mixed into the game, wherever appropriate, to increase the scope of role-playing. And furthermore, it would be optional. How could that possibly be a problem for anyone?


I think he's trying to explain that an "optional" choice that seems easy at first glance, is actually not at all: you have to adapt this feature to the whole ecosystem of the game (a bunch of decision boards I guess) that creates by butterfly effect a lot of bugs and nonsense.
I prefer an absent or restricted feature (only certain characters/circumstances) rather than a false freedom of choice.
