If there's a catagory, then it means 'the end of the early access'. ANyone with a brain & not being an ass understands this.

Stop being an ass. You have no reason to be snide & trying to demean Palmer's accomplishment other then sheer dickishness.
If you're not impressed; piss off. I hate people like you that talk down everyone else's fun for no reason. Like you can't feel joy unless you ruin someone else's fun.

@Professor_Palmer congrats! I hope you get it under 25 mins! Ignore the dickhead.

A part of me is why do a speed run on an early access, however, the bigger thing: Have fun. The OP has fun planning and working on achieving speed runs. No harm there. And he is having fun to boot. Sounds like a win win to me.

How very dare someone have fun with a game in a way that other people don't like!

It's hilarious to see how people are telling others how to play and enjoy their early access experience.

I think the OP could have avoided about 99.9% of the blow back if they had just chosen a thread title that was less self-aggrandizing. Proclaiming an unverifiable "world record" for something invites criticism from those that find bragging distasteful. Had they just said "personal record" instead, I doubt anyone would have taken exception to the thread at all.

I'll take it you've never picked up a copy of 'Guiness Book Of World Records'.

It is verified in his recording. Until someone does the same in the less time, he holds the record.

A 'world record' is nothing major. You can sneeze the most per minute and voila, a new world record!

Video games are not about trifles such as "fun". I do not wish to see further examples of that type of depraved thinking on a forum dedicated to serious business. I'm shocked and awed.

Speed running is cool as heck. Love 'em. It's very cool to see a speed run on Baldur's Gate 3 so soon. Good job, OP.

The game has been beaten in a single run with 0 combat, 0 companions, at level 1, and with 0 deaths in 17:32

This is a full game run with all loads and such factored in.

Again, huge shouts to Haxz in his amazing jump strategy and barrel glitch work!

Cannot wait for more content. I hope everyone is enjoying the game!

No sorry you fail, this is no longer a world record as it has now been done in 14 mins.

Nope.

The guy who posted it is my buddy. He came up with the strats. He took the fastest he could do each section, removed all the loads, and then video edited the clips end to end to make it a single video so we could have an idea for the strategies.
It's a spliced run as he stated. He was just testing what we could imagine without the loads and such being a factor. Obviously, this makes it not an actual run.

17:32 is the fastest run so far. I nearly got 16~ so I'll have to grind it down more tomorrow.

Oh, well then your buddy lied about claiming a 14 min completion.

Please continue.

Just a misunderstanding. He's deserving of all the real credit as I'm just the grind monkey and he came up with the creative strategies!

Great but somehow it sounds like the stupidest thing to speed run a rpg. No offense.

I respect that opinion. I have speedrun WRs in a ton of awesome rpgs (Parasite Eve, Ni No Kuni, Thousand Arms, White Knight Chronicles, etc). It's just a fun way to play a game you love in a different way, that's all!

Have a great night, all! Can't wait to try and do an "all quest completion" run or something similar.

It sounds like the stupidest idea to think that everyone wants to play an RPG the exact same way across every single playthrough.

I guess it was considered equally stupid for whoever first completed a solo completion of the original BG games, and then those that wanted fully customisable parties, as neither of these things were 'Role Playing'.

This currently serves as a fantastic method of bug finding, better that people do speedrunning in the EA than figure out how to break a game after a full release.

That record has been broken too.

14 minutes is the latest I have heard.

Hehe yeah, the 14 minutes is a rough estimate without loading screens. It was pieced together from the "best" segments of runs I had made at that time. Chaining everything together in a "perfect" run, is no small task. 17:32 is a good time. It managed to balance the buff timers nicely.

Currently I think we can shave 2-3 minutes off the 17:32, and if we can find some lockpicks near the current route, then the puzzle can be skipped as well, shaving 2 more minutes off. So I don't think an actual 12-13 minutes is unrealistic.
