The AI in general loves to bully the weak.
If you have low AC characters, low HP characters, downed characters... Then the AI will bumrush and focus on them, not giving a flying fuck about your frontline warrior or whatever else you use.
They will even ignore the risk of Opportunity attacks if that's what it takes to be genuine bastards.
