It's been a while since I played D&D, but what I remember the point buy system is that if you wanted you could buy up to a level 18 ability, granted at great cost, but you COULD buy it if you wanted. As it stands, and I should note I understand right now they are trying to balance out the combat, but being capped at 15 and can only achieve 17 depending on your race seems a bit extreme. I still prefer rolling for stats, but if we are doing point buy it should be like the previous system. If you want that 18 (or 20 if you got that +2 from a race) then you should be able to acquire it. Again I'm assuming the 15 cap, at least I hope, is due to finding game balance in combat sequences. Aside from that minor issue over the point buy system I think the game is doing really well in keeping most races balanced and playable. I just think, however, a character should be able to have that 16 Int and not have to play a race that gives them that stat boost to get it. If anything you can always up the amount of points if survival is an issue. Just offering suggestions for consideration and my opinion.
