I feel like clerics are seriously lacking DPS right now due to the absence of the spiritual weapon spell. This spell is kind of vital for any cleric to do decent, consistent damage...especially at low level.

Really hoping it will be added before release.

Mages could use flaming sphere too.

And where is shield?

Maybe because you're playing 1/4 of a class atm.

Best guess (hope really) is they're holding shield back until they improve the reactions system, cause right now it would be a really underwhelming spell since it would just trigger against the first person to successfully attack you, meaning that even if their roll beats your AC even with shield on, it would still trigger and waste your shield spell.

Light Cleric did not feel like I was lacking damage.

He was nearly untouchable with Lae'zels armor, 14 dex, and the disadvantage reaction.

He had 16 STR for decent attacks with backstab and his channel divinity for radiance of the dawn would just fry up any archers or smaller enemies on turn one.

Not to mention the buffs, heals, and guiding bolt spam. You can spam long rest so spell slots aren't an issue at all.

There are many spells missing at the moment. I suspect it's being worked on.
These summoned objects like Spiritual Weapon etc need animations after all.

As for Shield: I know they mentioned it in the past, and that you can turn it on as your reaction. But due to how reactions work now I bet they are struggling to find a good way to implement the spell.
