The old 1st Edition AD&D Illusionist class is still my favorite, before 2E homogenized it and gave all those unique spells away to the general mage class. But in any edition, the power of illusions is really tough to convey to a computer game situation, so I'd like to ask if anyone has tried Minor Illusion cantrips, etc. in BG III? What can you do with these spells?

Thinking back to the BG II series, I recall the character sheet recorded the most powerful foe vanquished ... it would have been cool to use that data to allow a Phantasmal Force or Shadow Monsters spell to create an illusory version of that monster.

Well the ones I tried are mostly for distracting foes and soon-to-be-robbed people like minor illusion or to change yourself into another race to get different dialogue choices.

Uh, nothing else comes to mind.

As expected you cannot use the more creative uses of minor illusion, silent image and stuff like that in a videogame.

So far I think we only have Minor Illusion, Disguise and Mirror Image.

Minor illusion causes enemies to look and sometimes move towards it, but it lasts a ridiculously short amount of time before they move back which makes it mostly unusable.

Disguise Self lets you change your race to unlock racial conversation options, such as using it to disguise as a drow when going into the Goblin camp.

Mirror Image creates three illusions around yourself that get hit before you do.

Maybe Blur is also an illusion spell which simply gives attackers disadvantage.

Something more interesting though is that Minor Illusion already sets up a basis for how higher level spells like Mislead could work. They could create a similar but longer lasting illusion with greater control and abilities.
