I want to go datamining too but the DOS2 modding tools don't work for me.

Of course they won't work. New engine, different package set.

Can't wait to see mods already, even for the early access version. Companion builds are very bad, some of them (Shadowheart has the worse). The looks of main character needs plenty of mods. The party Ui needs to be fought constantly, those chains just don't react, have to select multiple times until works, then good luck reordering because will merge instead... it's like a full time job just sorting the party (I don't know how that party UI survived so long, it's terrible.

One thing is sure: without mods, BG3 replayabilty will be very low.
And that's less reason to buy the game. So mod tools needed ASAP, even before release.

New version does*, though I didn't make a note of the link so you'll need to do a search for Norbyte's gubbins. I think it's a WIP as I had some issues with lsf/lsx conversion and lost my UV maps when importing meshes, but that could just as easily be me doing it wrong.

* That is to say Norbyte's tools, which I know I said, but just to be clear I didn't mean the official Larian package: that will happen later.

I was wanting to do this to find the Ethel sound files. Unfortunately I've not managed to find the music, but after spending quite some time sifting through the converted wem files I found all the Ethel sounds, so I'm content for now. xD

Modified engine. Could and probably a LOT of similarities.

Larian claimed it was more like Brand new - maybe slight exaggeration?

We can't know much about the engine, but the resources are quite similar to previous games.

Well if it is brand new it is amazing how much it looks like a continuation. I think devs do this commonly enough, "we've made so many changes ITS LIKE a new engine". I'm not sure why they would do that and not just build on what they have. From what I hear it is a continuation as old tricks are still working with BG3.
