In DND there is no such thing as "Heavy Helmet". Helmets don't have armor proficiency requirements. Can you confirm that you're only able to wear the helmet because of proficiency? Can you also tell me what heavy armor you've found?


He is right, helmet require heavy armor proficiency.

Also, common heavy armor in BG3 didn't have any requirements, as you can see below. (str is 13 on my screen)


Pretty sure the heavy armour requirement is bugged for helmet. I can stick heavy armour on gale and it restricts my spellcasting and ability to attack. Putting the helmet on Gale does not restrict anything. Therefore currently helmet is not acting like heavy armor (even though it gives you a warning).

The heavy armor you're linking is "ringmail" in the PHB which does not have a STR requirement in the PHB but also only gives 14 AC which is less than many medium armors.
