my only issue I have is that you do not seem to have an option to go meet Minthara first and then go to the grove

In my play-through I had this option. You save the Goblin prisoner from the Tieflings and she escorts you directly to the Goblins as a friendly, they introduce you to Minartha before either of the other leaders
