I'm curious, are you playing together on the same device or using separate computers to play multiplayer? I'm on a Mac using Gog and as far as I can tell I can't play local multiplayer yet.
We're playing on two different computers on the same network via steam. It's the easiest game I've ever played to set up a co-op. I just create a lobby, then click invite, my friends list pops up and I select him and launch.
