That is indeed a major plot-hole since we see a True Soul dying and the tadpole immediately crawls out. Even without the Skeleton guy, every trader has resurrection scrolls for cheap.
In true capitalist fashion one could solve the tadpole problem in the party by showering a couple thousand gold on them.
