If you played D&D with friends a couple of times, you might have come across the odd homebrewn character or two, that added their own unique flair to the story, or railroaded it straight into disaster.
I've met my fair share of these, and I've made experiences that were both positive and negative. Personally, I have no vested interest in this feature, but I want to propose it and bring it into the discussion, because think it would be a bold idea to bring this to Baldurs Gate as well, exclusively as a toggleable option for multiplayer games. There are certainly a number of people that would really love this feature, that want to explore the game in their own specific way.
I'll bring up a few questions that may need to be answered:
1. Will customizing of classes and races destroy the game's integrity to the point, that it will hurt the game and make it not enjoyable?
2. Should customization be subject to a balance by limitation, meaning, feats, abilities and so forth, cost a certain number of points, which you are given a limited amount of?
3. How do you feel about customization, personally?
