I think the issue most people have with this is most people can't play evil very well and it causes too much strife in groups. Properly done, it can be fun, but most people think it is just kicking puppies and murdering your way through places.

alot of people don't like to play evil characters for one reason or another. Funny though the same ones that don't want to play evil characters, turn around and do things as if they were evil. Murdering old people for shiny cane, killing his wife because she objected to it. Killing someone who had surrendered. Just a few examples from one session, by a person that stated 'I will never play an evil person.' I called her on her bullshit, of course.

I like how Shadowheart freaks out over the chest near the statue of Selune in the Owlbear cave, but my Cleric of Selune is a-okay.
To be honest, I don't particularly like any of the companions and on most of my playthroughs I either keep Lazael around just to carry stuff or outright kill of them on sight so that I can be rid of their whining, begging and nagging. I hope they introduce an option to allow custom characters for all 4 party slots in single player as is the custom in the franchise.

She's an evil cleric. But from what I have seen so far, she's just very selfish.

I am more interested to know why she stole the gith artifact in the nautiloid. Tried to ask her many times but no answer in act 1.

I actually like the interactions with them, the fact that you aren't immedaite buddies is refreshing. That SH is so nasty to Le, and that they all have quirks is rather refreshing. Plus taking SH, and La into the same party is amusing, specially when you get some peeks into why SH dislikes L

so why does she make a secret of following shar. Its probably anyones first guess. The tattoos make it even more clear.
As followers of Shar are obsessed with being secretive its like an american spy boasting a big CIA tattoo

I think this is a metagaming area.

Larian might need to add religion check when you meet her, where based on armor you may determine she's a Shar follower, but it's also not beyond disbelief that your bloke of a character does not catch up on that or simply does not even know Shar symbolic proper, after all it's not like you have these things plastered all over walls in Baldur's Gate being common knowledge. Heck our 8 INT/8 WIS might not even catch all on that at all ever, let alone from taking a glance at armor after crashing from bloody spaceship and be like "yeah that's Shar cultist".

As for secrecy,
seems like Shadowheart was where she was not by sheer coincidence, the Gith were after her, the tentaclebois were just a bonus. Might explain Shar heraldic armor and such as part of circumstances.

I think from responses, as a whole, people assume here that everyone is well versed in detecting Shar cultists and in their tattoos and symbols - I assure you, it's not that simple. You have whole druid grove essentially duped and fooled by
Shadow Druids who literally were in front of their noses
and they did not even pick on that, but they should be professional Shar detectors? lol

---

That said, it could be pretty good if Larian would add some poncho or something over that armor when you meet her, she'd probably indeed be a bit more wary of being revealed and could have snagged some rag on the way from all these corpses that litter the beach to wrap above armor.

She can manipulate and try to corrupt your Cleric of Selûne. The goddess is the scary antagonist sister of her "mom" Shar, not someone she can manipulate.

I expect her to manipulate people eventually. Her banter is basically about gathering information about the party members and her post-Raph's visit indicate she knows how to use it...

The naivety of the druids concerning the

shadow druids

does not make it better. There should be more checks implemented for the character and NPCs.
So Shadowhear stole

a box belonging to the Gith, most likely containing an infernal contract

Why risk the success of such a mission by increasing the attention to your person by a grandiose armor with heraldic religious elements? It makes no sense in the game. The reason "it looks cool" is a big immersion breaker for me. Things should make sense in the context of the setting and not depend upon external elements. Just my 10 grains of Gold

I sometimes use thought experiments. I don't necessarily believe in every idea I post for discussion on this forum
