Hi Guys,

I just wanted to address the only thing that kinda bothers me about BG3: the omniscient camera view.

I know that this is not an isometric rpg, we have an independent camera but somehow the camera in BG3 seems cheesy to me (the fact that you can just look into unexplored rooms in a dungeon). I know I don't have to use the camera like that, but still it feels wrong.

I mean, to me, the sense of unknown is such an important part of DND in general and in the old games in particular. To never know what you should expect behind the next door creates a sense of wonder and excitement which was a huge part of the old Baldurs Gate feeling. I also loved Divination magics in the old games, to map out the enemy before a battle was such a great use of magic.

I think introducing some sort of Fog of War could be great, if only in dungeons at least. Then, Divination spells (like Scrying or Arcane Eye) would have some sort of purpose, at least.

What do you think, though? Do you enjoy the new omniscient camera view or prefer the fog of war approach of the old games?

(I previously posted this thread but it just disappeared after the website was off for couple of hours).
