WARLOCK feedback + pact and mechanics suggestion from a long WLK playerOne class which I love is warlock. Played with this class on many games, despite not liking much cooldowns and wow style mmos, reached epic lv on ddo as a archdey and carceri storm WLK, finished NWN1 + 2 and expansions with warlock(PRC for nwn1 and warlock reworked for nwn2) and the idea of a warlock LEARNING from their patron is so cool(note : warlocks learn from their patron since 2e on complete wizard sourcebook, they don't draw power from their patron).
That said, Larian did a great job with WLK on this game. However, some things which I would love to change.
1 - VISUALS. Would be cool to have an purple Eldritch Blast. This spell on the complete arcane sourcebook(3.5e) was purple and a blue EB is IMO less visual appealing. Complete arcane - pag 72. IMO fits more an eldritch blast.
2 - PACT So far, only two pacts exists and due the ultra low lv cap, both are extremely similar. Would be cool if Larian not only included Archfey but also included the Lurker of the Deep from UA. I know that is extremely unlikely but still wanna see it.
2.1 - FIX PACT OF THE CHAINI love pets, but one aspect which plagues D&D since 3.5e is awful familiars for wizards/sorcerers/whatever. On 3.0, they had all cool familiars from 2e, like pseudo dragon, fairy dragon, etc; and scaled with the caster level. Those who played nwn1 knows what I an talking about. Even at epic levels, they are useful. However, I can't see how an imp on BG3 can be useful past lv 10.
I personally liked the Ice Mephit familiar, the Fairy dragon and pseudo dragon. IMO they are much more cooler than an house cat or a rat. At max level, Ice mephit cold bolt could deal 20d6 damage.

On g2 - returning(ab), if you become a necromancer, you can gain a demoniac pet which on begining, can't even take out molerats. After he levels up a lot, his model changes and he can take out archdemons. IMO, the idea of a familiar leveling with his master is so cool. And maybe homebrew a feat for higher levels which allow you to have other familiars, like "improved pact of chain" which allows you to have for eg, a succubi familiar.
4 - WYLL story
Please. Use Wyll to try to educate the players that warlocks aren't clerics. Their patron is not their power's source, since they got introduced as Witch on 2e(book : The Complete Wizard's Handbook) and male Witches got called warlocks. On page 65 is clear that warlocks learn from their patron. They don't draw power from their patron. 2e also had rules for other classes losing their power, but the worst thing that can happens to a Witch/Warlock is
"The Witch kit cannot be abandoned. If a Witch manages to sever all ties with the entities responsible for her instruction (usually requiring the power of a wish or its equivalent), she loses two experience levels. (...)Note, the book explicit says that is the source of his/her instruction, nor her power.
And i an hoping that the story will be epic. Nice loading screen BTW
