The Knotted Roots, when climbed, cause the controlled character to slowly decent downwards.
This continues until the 'bottom' of the map is reached and the character instantly dies and returns to camp.
Tested with different characters, both sneaking and non-sneaking.
For completeness, the nearby fight with the Spectator was triggered and ongoing.
EDIT:
This applies for trying to climb UP the vines.
Climbing down is not possible and gives me the "Jump to Reach" notification
